Creating a MySQL Database and Using phpMyAdmin

On this page

Most dynamic websites and applications, including WordPress, store their content in a MySQL database.

Creating a database

Step 1: Open MySQL Databases

Log into cPanel and open MySQL Databases under the Databases section.

Step 2: Create the database

Type a name for your database and click Create Database.

Step 3: Create a database user

Scroll to MySQL Users, create a username and a strong password.

Step 4: Add the user to the database

Under Add User to Database, select the user and database you just created, then grant All Privileges so your application can read and write to it.

Using phpMyAdmin

Open phpMyAdmin from the Databases section to browse your database's tables, run SQL queries, or import and export data directly in your browser.
