Setting Up a Node.js Application

On this page

cPanel's Node.js Selector lets you run a Node.js application on your hosting account alongside your regular website.

Creating a Node.js application

Step 1: Open Setup Node.js App

Log into cPanel and open Setup Node.js App under the Software section.

Step 2: Create the application

Click Create Application, choose the Node.js version, the application mode (Development or Production), the application root (the folder your code lives in), and the application URL.

Step 3: Note the activation command

cPanel shows a command to activate the correct Node.js environment — you'll use this before running npm commands via SSH.

Installing dependencies and starting your app

Connect via SSH, run the activation command cPanel gave you, then run npm install inside your application folder to install dependencies. Use the Restart button in Setup Node.js App whenever you update your code.
